Expanding Flevoland

Flevoland’s economy is rapidly expanding. In 2009, we have registered almost 2,000 new companies. The total number of businesses has almost tripled in 25 years to well over 30,000. In 2009, an impressive 90 percent of these companies were profitable.

architectureMore than 350 of the companies in Flevoland are part of a multinational with head office outside The Netherlands. They come from Japan, the United States, Taiwan, South-Korea, Germany, the United Kingdom, France and many other countries. Together, these foreign companies employ almost 10,000 people.

For new companies, we have over 360 hectares of business locations readily available. Flevoland annually allocates more than 40 hectares of business sites to companies while over 50.000 sq m of office space a year is sold or rented out.

Employment increases by over 5,500 a year, more than in any other Dutch region. Growth is strongest in business services, trade and catering. Almost a quarter of all jobs are part time, offering flexibility to both employers and employees.
